This is the 13th installment of my ECG Video Blog. This 42-minute
video covers the Essentials of Axis Determination and Assessment of the Hemiblocks. I begin with the basics –
so the material is understandable for any
level of interpreter. There follows a gradual progression (with PEARLS for all
level providers along the way) that should leave you comfortable with an easy-to-remember and accurate method for determining both Axis & Hemiblocks in less than 5 seconds.
-----------------------------------------
NOTE: There are advantages to using a video format format. These include:
- Ability to illustrate concepts not done full justice by the written word.
- Greater dispersion of my content through Google & YouTube. This material is free for anyone to use.

My goal in this 42-minute video series is to present a user-friendly approach that allows determination of Axis and the presence of LAHB within less than 5 seconds. LPHB is far less common than LAHB. It rarely occurs as an isolated defect — but instead may occasionally be seen in association with RBBB.
- LPHB can be recognized by the finding in "B" in Figure-1 below — in which there is a very steep initial descent to the S wave in lead I.
